Hi guys, I had a great time at the National Catholic Conference last week with Mr D - very full on days and certainly challenged to think a great deal!!! I made it my mission to attend as many digital related workshops as possible and so now I have a little task for you. We are beginning to work with an online service called KnowledgeNET and this will gradually take place of our blog. Can you all log on to http://www.stants.knowledge.net.nz Your login is your first name and your password is your second name. Once you are in go to the tab that says My Groups and click on Room Tui. This will lead you to our page. I want you to click on the word Forum and read the forum about KnowledgeNET. There are tasks for you to do! The other part I want you to click on Feast of the Assumption and complete the task there - it involves clicking on a link!! You may explore the other tabs but don't do anything as we were only playing and the other topics are not set up to do yet!! So to recap, you are exploring the site; actioning the forum about Knowledge.net and the work on the Feast of the Assumption. Have fun and we look forward to learning from you!! Cheers Mrs J

Hi Tui I MUST use the blog more. Just to clarify: I want you to pretend I know nothing about your chosen Olympian and the success criteria will be that by the end of your 2 mins I will have learnt some facts about them. How you present those facts is up to you. BUT not a powerpoint presentation as you are all so good at that anyway. Facts to present could include... how many medals that person has won, where they are from, how many medals they have won, difficulties they have encountered along the way personal details like where they were born. Poems, posters, set it out like you did your science board(you could recycle your science board for this!) interviews, videos, interviews. The world is your oyster!!!! Ms D

Hi Tui Hope you are all having a great holiday. Mrs J and I are sitting in the Meeting Room getting ready for next week and the ONE thing we'd like you to do before we get back to school is this: Have a think about an Olympian that you would like to do some research on. This Olympian must reflect the Olympic Values and also you must be able to link them to our school values of REAL This person can be any nationality and from any era. Have a chat with your parents and see if you can get some ideas from them. No need to get stuck into research just yet. Just be ready with your chosen person when you get back to school. Make sure you tell everyone to read the blog if you are someone who sees this message first!!! Thanks

Open Day at Mt Cook Technology

Hi all, I trust you all have had a great weekend??? This coming week is open week at Mt Cook. This is so that your parents can visit and see what you do each Friday. Mr Depree would like you to invite your parents to pop in and see things in action. So let your parents know about the invite and of course the time that your session is on. If they can't make that time then they are welcome to drop in at any time. Please confirm that you have invited your parents by commenting on the blog - I am expecting 30 comments!!! Cheers Mrs J

NIWA Science Fair...Important Reading!!!

Hi everyone As quite a few people have been asking me what I want in tomorrow I thought I would clarify: Don't worry if you haven't finished everything!!! Tomorrow is your chance to hand in what you have done so far and anything you would like some help/suggestions with. I won't be marking spellings and punctuation...that's your responsibility. I will be making suggestions on what you may need to do in order to improve your work. If you are still testing you might want me to look at your method and see if its clear and easy to follow. Therefore bring it in tomorrow...obviously you won't have your conclusion and results yet. Perhaps you want some help thinking of a graph to draw. Perhaps your research needs looking at. Are you struggling with your aim Can't interpret your results? Don't know what the application of your experiment is? Tomorrow is your chance to get some help. Write down any questions that you want help with too and I'll do my best to answer them The boards aren't due in till June 18th so please don't panic. Just keep working steadily away and as long as you don't leave things to the last minute( as if you would!!!) then you'll be fine. Please pass the message that everyone needs to read the blog Ms D

Bible Character

Hi guys, Just to clarify re this task - You need to read, read and read!! Some people have easier options than others but the challenge is to attempt to gain as great an understanding of your person as possible! Have fun learning and we will have some time to create the power point. Some don't know how to use power point so make sure you help each other and use the teaching books in the classroom.

Hello Tui. Following information may be helpful for your science write up Aim: What do you want to test or prove? OR What do you want to learn or discover? just a sentence or 2 at the most Hypothesis This is your prediction . What do tou think will happen. DO NOT explain why you think this will happen Equipment: List the equipment you need to conduct the experiment. Add to your method. Method: List the steps you follow to conduct the experiment. It's like writing a recipe and we've done lots of those! Results: Draw up a TABLE to record results, if numerical data is obtained. Results may include written observations in a list or table, sketches, diagrams, photos, etc. Discussion: How did you ensure that the measuring was accurate? What mistakes were made? How could this improve? What did you observe? Is the result what you expected? Compare to published information. Were there any hazards (dangerous things/situations)? Conclusion: Have you tested or proved what you had as your aim? Say that you have done so in a clear, logical statement. Comment on how accurate your experiment was and how you could make it better. Application: What was the point of your experiment, how is what you found out useful. Research: General reading about the topic you are doing Please encourage everyone to read this!!!!! Ms D

bits and pieces

Well done at the beach today and well done on the walk back when we had to be EXTRA quiet for the film crew. I owe you a lot of PB4L points for that. Don't forget to nag me about that...not too much though.

Shame that not everyone remembered to hand their spelling test in. Latest score is 242. If I'd had all the books I think we may have beaten last weeks score!

Well done Jasmin Anna and Eilish for checking the blog so regularly. Eilish and Anna...2 tokens for you guys please.

Also, I never added the 10 PB4l points for an awesome game of scatterball so if someone could ask Ms J to do that please. I will e mail her about it too.

Plus, could someone put the spelling score of 276 up on the sheet please. I owe the class a treat! Well done indeed.

Hi Tui,

Sorry I missed Pancake Day today. Hope it all went well.

Marked your spellings last night and the new score is 242. Hard to beat that great score last week with so many people away this Monday.

Could someone please make a sign with 275 on it(last weeks score) and stick it on the laminated sign on the door so we all know what we're aiming for. Thanks
Well done with the writing exercise. I enjoyed reading the instructions for Anastasia and our Monday morning routine!
